Send copyright and other rights notices to copyright@audioshelf.org with the URLs and work identification required by law. audioshelf may forward notices to the hosting provider and request additional detail before acting. Counter-notifications and repeat-infringer policy are described on this page.

Respect for rights

audioshelf.org is a finding aid. It links to recordings and texts hosted by third parties. We respond to good-faith notices that material indexed or linked on the site infringes copyright or other rights.

How to submit a notice

Email copyright@audioshelf.org with:

Your name and contact information (address, phone, and email)
Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed (or, for multiple works, a representative list)
The audioshelf.org URL and, if applicable, the third-party recording or text URL shown on the page
A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the rights holder, its agent, or the law
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act on the rights holder’s behalf
Your physical or electronic signature

We may forward your notice to the provider that hosts the recording or text. We may also request additional information before acting.

What happens after we receive a notice

Acknowledgment. We aim to confirm receipt within two US business days when contact information is valid.
Review. We review the notice for required elements and check the audioshelf.org URL and any linked provider URL. Target review time: five to ten US business days for complete notices.
Action. Depending on the claim, we may remove or disable a catalog link, add a rights flag, forward the notice to the hosting provider (Internet Archive, LibriVox, etc.), or request more information. Because audioshelf does not host audio files, removal on our site is usually delisting or disabling a link—not deleting the provider’s file.
Record. We keep a log of notices, actions taken, and correspondence for repeat-infringer and compliance purposes.
Follow-up. We notify the sender when we take action or need more information. Complex claims may take longer.

Submitting a false or bad-faith notice may expose you to liability. If you are unsure whether material is infringing, consider seeking legal advice before sending a notice.

Counter-notification

If you believe material was removed or disabled in error, you may send a counter-notification to the same address with the information required by applicable law. We may restore the link unless the complainant seeks a court order.

Repeat infringers

We may limit access for users or sources that repeatedly infringe rights, where applicable.
